This is a variation of the test that showed linking your Homepage back to your Homepage actually increased rankings. If the page that links back into itself wins, then we can further test what kind of links work best in order to rank higher.

Will a post linked back to itself outperform posts that do not? And this is kind of a variation, if you remember, early days in SIA that we did a test and it was "If I link from other home page, and I link to the home page from the home page with the keyword, my target keyword, well, I get a boost"? And the answer to that test was yes, we wanted to see if that applied to the internal pages too. So we use post but poster page, any page is not the home pages, essentially think about it in that way. And Hunter use the naked link.
So URL, no anchor words anchor text, right? And here's the setup, was really started. Middle of test Google kind of split it out. And then now at the end, the one of the test word pages is number 1, while the other one is kind of essentially where it started at maybe a little bit down. And I think it's kind of a mix. So these two are equal value. We only pick one.
So, we're gonna shoot this one up, and we'll just leave that word it is. I don't know, to me, I think that's an indicator that the actual. What's the word I'm looking for? The factor, while they're relevant, it could possibly indicate that it's just not that strong. So "jbqhrtzg" churchmen stand for test keywords. So there it is, buxekk tkz. Right? buxx tkc one that was gone. There it is. They just switched. So there's a little bit of testing right? And seeing which one of those you know, the link says that these are valuable.
This minor ranking factor says that these are valuable, but will the CTR agree that one or the other is the important one. So that's pretty interesting result. So, at the end of the day, my recommendation is that this is a difference between three or number ranking number 3, or ranking number 4, and ranking number 3, and just link to your page. And again, this was a naked URL.
I'm gonna have him redo this, we'll do one with a partial match, and one with the exact match and then one with brand name. And see if the anchors make a difference, maybe that'll boost it up, and give that a little bit more juice outside of just having the URL in there. Seen a comment from Mohamed, it's impressive that self licking still kind of works. Yeah, I think it's cool.
I think it's an easy no brainer thing that you can do. Again, let's say that is, this is really weak, right? And and let's say that I'm too if just self linking was enough to knock me up, and then number 1, and you're a hero, and you've saved yourself, like hours of work, so why not go try it? I mean, clearly, we're not losing anything by self linking, so you certainly ain't gonna hurt by doing it. So I'm not gonna do it. Any other comments on that?
