Test 362: What Is The Best Extension To Use? (Top 5)

In test #344 we had purchased and hosted 11 different extensions and it turned out that the .guide got the most attention through the entire test, with some other notable mentions. In this test, Dori goes back to her original test involving the 5 top domain extensions that was set-up over 2 years ago.

Now, if you remember a couple months ago – if you remember way back in Tests 344, a couple months ago we had a very similar test but I bought a lot of domains. There are 11 of them here and we put them up, hosted them and then we got the results from them.

The tests that I’m doing today are on domains that have been up since March of 2017 so that's a little bit more interesting but I do want to say that the .GUIDE really played well here and if you want to go back and look at that test you can. Really interesting and the same with this, it's pretty interesting.

I set these sites up in a couple different ways. The index was just an HTML site and it looks like this. It's just one page. The keyword is right here in the header… and I think that was when Breaking Bad was really popular but what that really looks like Clint too. I laughed when I saw the image that I’d put there two years ago.

Then, this is the WordPress site and the keyword again is in the H1 tag. Not much content on the WordPress site but we're not comparing them quite yet. With that the results came in was the .NET, the .COM, the .INFO and then the .ORG. That's for the HTML. Test A was HTML, the index. Now, I have to say, of course, being me I misspelled the keyword on the .US.

So, that didn't make it in here. I am going to redo that and then we'll get a listing here and I will talk about that later. I didn't want to do it right now because we have a lot of other tests on these domains that I want to talk about before I change anything and send it through the indexer. So, that’s why I didn't show it right now.

So, the WordPress when the “omitted results” were not clicked it came up the .US twice and then the .INFO. So, it looks like that right there and I thought that was really interesting since I didn't have the .US in the HTML runoff. Again, we'll come back to that but then when I clicked include omitted results I got this. We got 4 .USs, 4 .infos, 3 .COMS, a .NET and my poor .ORG at the very bottom.

Back in the old days, the .ORG was the one – it was the one to buy. It beat everybody else for a long time but I have to concede that it doesn't anymore and I guess maybe Google did that because everybody was getting .orgs I don't know but it turned up last here.

As we go through the other tests, we'll see where the .ORG stands and where these all come up as well. The analysis on this is the .US looks pretty strong and the .INFO also – very strange, because these are two dollar sites.

Again, would I change anything about my site if it was already up and ranking? No. This is just really information for when you're buying sites and this could be information if you're buying sites – new sites, if you want to use them as PBNs or other things. I don't think it's a huge bump up but it could be a little bump up. The .COM absolutely I would get if I was branding my domain. In any case, you got to have the .COM. So, that was Test 359.
