Let’s, at least, see if anything from these fields gets indexed. We test them further before using them again.

This test is by Varun. He does a lot with image SEO, he does a lot of backlinking with images, some of the stuff that he does is I’ve sworn to secrecy on, this is really pretty crazy. So, he does a lot with images and he has dialed in with how images are doing. Something that he wanted to look at is, kind of putting all things together.
We looked at these things individually where you’ve got the keyword inside a title for an image tag, the comments field, etc. We looked at them individually and we are putting them together into one, how is that going to impact the images and the pages themselves, will it affect the rank of the page, will it affect the image indexing. Basically what he has got is a different fake keyword for one particular image and it is added to that page. The main keyword is added to the image as well, and then a few other fake keywords are done.
You can see the table the times when the image indexed, moved rank, and where it didn’t show. The idea is, for the main keyword, it moved it up to number one by having the fake keyword on that image. What was interesting was then, the image name or the file name also helped index that image. It also dropped out. That is normal for images, they come in and out. Getting it into the alt, getting it into the image name, that helped. Getting it into the tag and the title, didn’t help anything.
If images are important for you, you have products, you’re in e-commerce, images are a very important play. In e-commerce you are probably dealing with thousands and thousands of images, what would you do with them? These are the two that you would want to worry about. Not too much on the tag and the title – keyword in the file name of the image and the img-alt.
