When you upload a video to YouTube, you have the option to set the recording location for your video. When you enter information into the box, YouTube pulls in relevant information from Google My Business and your listing will pop up in the selection box, allowing you to click your map and claim that is where the video was made. When you click your listing, the information you typed remains, but the listing address doesn’t show.
So in that, we have to assume we’ve associated the video with the listing. With this test, Clint wanted to know if we are wasting our time filling out this particular box during the upload process or if it’s something that can help affect rank.

GMP, I know i've been talking about what are the GMP tests? And I finally got off my button, I did one. So hopefully you guys will like this one so if you are an avid YouTube user or creator, or doing every once in a while in the YouTube Creator Studio, when you upload, you have the opportunity to set the recording date. And then there's a black box right next to it for recording location. You fill that out, and it actually creates an auto search, going through the Google My Business listings, and you can tag your listing inside of there by clicking on it.
The UI part does not change or add the address and stuff inside of that box. It just puts the business name in there. See kinda have to trust that it's actually doing what we think it's doing. And I wanted to know if I'm doing this, and I do it all the time on every one of my videos, am I gonna see a ranking boost right?
Starting in March, I was doing it for my location here where I'm actually in Yuma. But starting in March, I wanted to say, am I wasting my time? So I all my SEO this week videos was for eight of those. I tag with my Phoenix office address for my Phoenix GMB. And then in advance of our launch, we did or I'm adding videos to the SEO Intelligence Agency channel. And I think we did 50 so far, and I didn't even put in a dent in the list of a dozen I had to do, but I did like 50 of them.
So, roughly 58 videos, probably plus or minus 10. I don't remember the exact count of how many I've done to the Phoenix location before this. I didn't really think about it very much when I was uploading. But this is kind of this is the results I get, just from doing that. I keep mine out.
Do you like Google Maps rankings? Just because they're so finicky. And there's a whole lot of people that practice narc SEO, you throw a whole lot of time, money and effort into ranking maps only for them to get taken down because you change your services, name or spelling or whatever. So I really disillusioned with maps. But this is a really, really good result.
If you note down here, you can't see the numbers, but this is like in the 60s. And then it bounced up into the 19s. So this was 54 went up into the 20s. Back down and back up. So this is kind of what I was seeing across the board. And if you see this in organic, you know, just be patient, and it's gonna lock in right here, right?
Hey, we're gonna test it, okay, no, test it, okay. And then bring it back up. And then if you got enough CTR, from users, typically you get locked in a little bit faster. Otherwise, you got to wait a couple more weeks about that. And you know, 4-6 weeks is not unnatural. And this is the 4-6 week mark. But for 50 videos that I had to do anyway, from 63 to 19. That's a good ranking difference.
One thing I want to figure out is I was doing videos on my own channel, the brand new channel, and I didn't see any effect at all. And then I did the videos on the SIA channel and they all jumped up. So it is a completely different account SIA channels on a completely different account than my digital ear Google account.
As a matter of fact, I actually access it without the cookies intermix, I use ghost browser, so I don't ever have to log on to the SIA thing and I use ghost browser to sign on and to log out of my account. So is it that I tagged it in my account and then I also tagged it in the SIA account and I got this jump or is it just because of the SIA account because it's not associated with mine. And this new account is saying they recorded the videos and it's kind of like third party validation that the map is there? that I got this.
I'll be entirely honest, when I wrote this up, I wasn't even excited about. This is like 15 to 19, mine might as well be dead. It's like the bottom of the page for maps. I don't know a whole lot of people that scroll down to the bottom of the page.
