Test 541: Will Putting YouTube Links In The Description Help With Ranking?

There will be places on the internet everyone has access to that tend to pass a lot of ranking power when used in moderation.

The YouTube video description is one such place.

Despite always being a rel=nofollow links, Hunter have ranked pages with just this one link below when doing launch jacking.

So we test if this indeed works and if you can increase rank just buy adding your link in the Youtube description.

This one is, will putting a Youtube description help your ranking?

A lot of people down on Youtube Oh, you can put it in your Youtube description, but dude, it's a no-follow link. So it's not gonna be any good. But I've launched jack several products just using one YouTube video and the link in the description box.

I know from real-world experience, I kind of expected this result of this test, right? So I know that these are going to work. So you ignore the nofollow in there. And Google's using them as a hint anyway, and put your links in the descriptions.

This is 10 test pages, obviously, to get a link in the description. 22nd August, everything jumped up. You can see Google filtered all the pages again, we got them all back in slowly but surely. And then our pages with links kicked in. You can see here, it's kind of they both have a link from a Youtube description. So they're equal links. And so the pages Let me see I didn't check this order.

It picked this one right away is number 1. And it said, this has the link, but it's not number 1. It's not beating that other one.

So whatever it is, differences in the algorithm and how they looked at those two different videos. And why one guy at 1 more power, it may not even be that it's just that this page was number 1 when they want to drop in, because it has the backlink, we're going to show preference to this one versus the other one that's optimized on the same domain. So get around the filter.

And we know that the YouTube link still works. But you can still see that if you have two pages, one of them just may not rank if the other if Google picks that other one. And you guys see that in the wild all the time too. And we call it keyword cannibalization. That may be that in the testing environment too. And it's something that can be overcome with the backlinks. So that's pretty interesting in my opinion.
