Ted Kubaitis of Cora fame is huge on footer links.
You often hear people talk about footer links not doing anything and so, the very first thing that we wanted to see is can they move the needle.
What you can see from the chart here that Ryan put together – we have our number three page that only received footer links and it does not take it long to jump to number one.
It blips to number 2 for a day but it is up to number one.
We can see that footer links do pass juice and it kind of confirms what Ted has been screaming about for quite a while. Footer links will pass juice.
Dori: I have been screaming about it and even on these calls. Godaddy has been using footer links to rank their registration site for years and years and years even after footer links were supposedly penalized. Every person who gets a free website from Godaddy gets that footer link. Just my input there.
Yeah, it is no surprise.
WordPress does it, Wix does it, all those sites does it.
If you are in the web development space you will see competitors do that as well.
They’ve got site built by so and so in the footer and it still works and if you hear people saying it doesn’t work or Google is penalizing that, no it can still pass juice.
Where I will build my whole link profile around? No. But is it something that you could do to add variety to it and that will pass juice? Yes.
